Over the last eighteen months the Friends of the Ullswater Way has worked with local artists and craftspeople to create a series of installations along the Ullswater Way. Each celebrates an aspect of the Valley’s heritage and each is in harmony with the natural surroundings. They are marked in red on the map. To complete our Heritage Trail, a series of information points, marked in blue, draw attention to other sites of historical and cultural interest.
Please click the map below for more details on the installations and information points, or select from the drop down list to the right and hit “click to select” button.

Help us raise money for our next Heritage Trail Installation
The Herdwick Stones
We’re raising £1000 to add ‘The Herdwick Stones’ to the existing range of installations on the Ullswater Way Heritage Trail. The three Herdwick-themed engravings, highlighting the Cumbrian sheep-counting system, will be placed between Gowbarrow and Watermillock. We have funds for Yan (1) but we still need funds for Tyan (2) and Tethera (3).
Please donate to our JustGiving Crowdfunding Page and help make this happen.
